June 19, 2019 An Idyllic setting for a wedding; truly a little piece of paradise!

An idyllic setting for a wedding; truly a little piece of paradise! My son Daniel married the beautiful Miriam on June 19, 2019. The Inn itself was a fantastic place to stay. The six large bedrooms and three full bathrooms allowed both the bride’s & groom’s immediate family to stay there and bond as a new family. The kitchen is large and well stocked with staples and it seems that most of the bridal parties that stay there leave a little something behind to enhance the visit. All the rooms are large and comfortable, and there is a large flat screen with satellite TV. For the musically inclined, there is a piano, drum, and other instruments decorating the large living area. Best of all, the owner, Kim, is remarkable - thoughtful, kind, and incredibly helpful.

Kim offers full use of the “prop room” for vases, dishes, all sorts of things to make the room unique and beautiful. She also has gorgeous flower gardens, and she helped us select & cut flowers for the centerpieces, which she also helped put together. The barn has these incredible solid wood tables for dining, so no tablecloths are even needed. Kim also has a collection of beautiful china, glasses and flatware to use. The bride’s mother brought along some family china that was no longer being used, and donated it to the collection after our bride and groom used it at the wedding. It was very special and sentimental, and I can’t imagine having that flexibility in many other places.

This was my first look at the property in person and let me tell you, the pictures simply don’t do it justice. The “before” pictures of the bride and groom getting ready, the ‘first look” and family photos were taken in the beautiful farmhouse just prior to the wedding.

The outdoor site for the wedding is spectacular! After nervously watching the hourly weather forecast, we were relieved by a late afternoon shower that immediately cooled everything down. (But no worries, Kim has a rain option available and tons of umbrellas handy.) The sun came out and the outdoor ceremony was on! Watching my son marry his beloved under that beautiful arch, topped with the extraordinary quilted chuppah (made with love by the bride’s Aunt Laurie) with a pond and a mountain in the background was surreal; it felt like the garden of Eden itself.

After the ceremony, the guests moved to the cocktail party on a lovely grassy area outside the barn. It is large enough to accommodate the food, the bar and the guests, yet still feels intimate. The photographer whisked away the bride and groom for some amazing photos outdoors. The caterer Kim recommended served up delicious, beautiful food both at the cocktail hour and the dinner. We moved to the upstairs of the barn for the dinner and dancing.

As the sun was beginning to set and the guests entered the barn, it was a breathtaking sight. The room was aglow, the wood tables gleamed, all the flowers (several vases per table) were stunning. Kim has these old windows that we were able to set up on a table at the entrance to the barn. Instead of place cards, the table numbers & names were written on the window panes, another unique and personal touch. There is a perfectly sized dance floor with plenty of room for a band, if desired, or a DJ. On the opposite end of the room was the bar, a small seating area (with Kim’s grandmother’s couch!) and a table for a wedding cake or in our case, cupcakes and cannolis.

It was an unforgettable wedding, followed by a lovely brunch the next morning in the barn. Truly a weekend to remember for everyone who attended! I can’t thank Kim enough for every kindness she showed us, and for helping create memories that will last a lifetime. - Stacy A. mother of groom

August 3, 2019 - Surprise confetti and fireworks!

Thank you so much for all your help and support preparing for our son and now daughter in-laws wedding. Your creative and calm spirit made a very special day and as special and loving as it should be! Getting ready- picking flowers, putting them together for the big day was magical. As much fun as the actual event. You guys did a great job with the surprise of confetti and fireworks(rain, lightening). Those little touches really add to the excitement. We loved every minute of the weekend. Many thank and loving gratitude! Come visit us on Long Island!

Hugs to all-

June 2019 - I cannot recommend The Inn at West Settlement highly enough.

We had an amazing experience here for our daughter's wedding. First, the venue is absolutely perfect -- the barn is gorgeous, and the the setting is magical. We were lucky with the weather and had the wedding outside, but the wedding would have been beautiful in the barn as well. So, one additional plus is that, unlike some of the other venues we saw, you do not need to rent a tent in case of bad weather. Also, the barn has lovely bathrooms, so you also do not need to rent port-a-potties. Kim, the owner, could not have been more helpful!! She helped manage all the details and everything ran smoothly the day of the wedding. I have hosted lots of events, and my daughter's wedding was the only one where I never needed to do anything, or track anyone down during the event to make sure details were handled. Kim was there and managed it all beautifully. I cannot recommend The Inn at West Settlement highly enough.

October 2018 - Prop room for DIY enthusiasts

We just had our wedding at the Inn at West Settlement last weekend, and it could not have been more perfect. The house, the barn, the scenery, Kim’s gracious demeanor, we couldn’t have asked for more. If you are a DIY enthusiast, this is your dream wedding venue! with tons of props to choose from, you can really make the decor your own, and spending the entire 3 days on the grounds with our closest family memebers was such a special time. Would 100% recommend this venue!!1

It means the world to us when couples and their families really take up and enjoy all The Inn at West Settlement has to offer. Not only the natural scenery and the barn and farmhouse, but our infamous prop room, which grows by the season. In the off season, one of our bigger jobs and most fun is to scout thrift stores, antique stores, and yard sales from VT to NY for the best finds to add to our ever growing and changing prop room.

The vast collection of vintage china and the vintage chairs are continually being added to.

August 2018 - Rainy day wedding turned into a magical ceremony inside the barn.

I had my recent wedding here and would highly recommend it. Kim is now the sole owner and she is helpful, responsive, and has a great eye for events. Through every step she gave us helpful suggestions and turned a rainy wedding day into a magical ceremony inside the barn. The staff Kim works with are also friendly and great at their jobs of maintaining the flower beds and gorgeous grounds. I am delighted to have worked with such a fantastic woman-owned business that made our day truly memorable.

Hi Kim,

Just want to thank you for all your loving and useful support for our son Johan and Amrit’s wedding - everyone loved every minute of it, even the rain - the flowers, the setting, the barn, the food, the music, the gorgeous surroundings - and we enjoyed the entire week there.

Blessings on your continued work making people's wedding dreams come true!

Favorite Venue

THE INN AT WEST SETTLEMENT is my new favorite venue in the Catskills. Everything was organized so beautifully between the house, ceremony site, and the barn reception.

Never wanted to leave

Dearest Kim

When Ryan and I found this place, we knew we would never want to leave. We are considering going home to get our fur babies, Sadie, lady, Osker and Miss Kitty Fantastico, and squatting on the property in our tent. The weekend here was nothing short of magical and could not have been a more perfect setting for us to declare our true love!!!

We’ll be back for snowboarding at Platty!

Thank you a million times for everything….

Hope you enjoyed our Okterberfest! As much as we did

Prost!

Liebe,

Mr and Mrs R. and Jess B.

September 2016 - Truly Magical

Kim,

Thank you so much for all your help during our wedding weekend. This venue and house are a truly magical place and we were so thrilled to share it with our family and friends.  We keep hearing from everyone that this was the best wedding they have ever been to and that could not have been had had we not celebrated our union here.  The weather was perfect, the pictures have turned out amazing.  We hope to visit this special place again someday, perhaps even recreate some of the pictures we took with our someday family and a few more wrinkles.

Thanks again

Love,

Corene and Laurence and Hudson

Beyond Words...

Well they say…

When the wedding day comes, it just flies by — but we really enjoyed every second of our Wedding! I’m still smiling. Thinking of all the * best * moments —

  • “Love shack family jam”
  • The Greatest band – Round House Rockers * saving the night *
  • The beauty all around us – from te flowers, the mountains, the farmhouse and the barn!

And thank you Kim – You are the light of this homestead — with your gentle kindness you made our dream wedding come true! It was the most perfect day with our nearest and dearest people in our lives! Now the journey of marriage begins….

Beyond words… Our wedding dream come true from the moment I walked into this house two years ago I knew this was the place —

Two hearts became one

God’s beauty before our eyes

The view to surround our senses.

The warmth of the barn

To Eat, Drink and Dance

Making this a memory of a lifetime for Brian and Audrey

To last forever

Thank you for all your gentleness and love

And making it all Happen
